the germ of negativity
creeps into my mind, uninvited
poisons the thoughts
destroys hope, joy and optimism
that selfish, vicious little serpent -
bites into every good memory.
mind writhes in pain,
struggles to free itself -
I twist and turn in bed;
sweat and scream.
