I Cried Tonight ...

I cried tonight
For the character of the movie
But, the truth is,
It was just an excuse.
I cried tonight, more for myself
As if releasing some unknown & deep buried ache
I seemed to be ignoring all the while
I cried tonight
And, I must tell you -
It felt good.

We find it so wrong and maybe embarrassing, too
To let out the emotions out into the open -
To cry without any reason.
But the truth is, we must allow -
Let them out, let the tears flow -
Wet cheeks can be wiped clean ...
Salt on the smiling lips, later -
Is a wonderful feeling to know.

Yes, I cried tonight -
But I am ashamed, I needed an excuse to.

Wrote this poem after watching the movie My Sister's Keeper
