game on

it lurked in the dark
ready to attack
she was high on positivity
when it jumped in front of her
unaffected by its presence
she stared at its dead dark eyes
and the dead dark eyes
stared into hers
neither of them budged
neither of them looked away
it hissed
she smiled
it was a clash of perspectives
the game was on -
it went on for hours
went on the whole night
and continued till dawn
she felt the demon’s resolution faltering
with the first light
it cowered
she held her head high
the demon gave up
and vanished
the game was over.
it would be back, she knew
but -
she had won this round.
